Veronica Vasicka at Nolla this Saturday
After last week's amazing party with Lee Douglas, we are glad to have another special guest dj from NYC playing at Nolla this Saturday. Veronica Vasicka is the woman behind Minimal Wave, both a record label and a term coined by her to describe the obscure, 'DIY' electronic pop music from late 70's and early 80's.
The Minimal Wave label specializes in creating vinyl editions of old synth wave music, which most of the time, have never been released on vinyl before. The source material is originally from old cassettes, compilations and reel-to-reel tapes. Last year she compiled "The Minimal Wave Tapes: Volume One" for Stones Throw Records. She records her own music under the name 2VM, a collaboration with the Minus Records artist Marc Houle.
Veronica is also known for her weekly programme on East Village Radio as well as djing in clubs both in New York City and abroad. You can expect to hear minimal electro, dark Italo disco and house mixed in with classic new wave.
Check out a recent Red Bull Music Academy interview with Veronica and some of the essential Minimal Wave tracks below. See you on Saturday!
