A former resident at The Haçienda, Jon Dasilva delivered literally a smoking hot set in January. While being busy with plenty of upcoming projects, Mr. Dasilva had time for a quick Q & A before his anticipated return to Nolla this Saturday.

Besides the already legendary case of the burning monitor speaker, do you have any special memories from your gig at Nolla in January?

– It was funny... Magnus was going on about Andrew Weatherall all day before I played, so it was a relief to actually get his approval when I started playing!

Speaking of Weatherall, he was playing with you last Friday in Stockholm where you currently live. How was the party?

– The party was good, thanks. Weatherall played really well, but so did Greg Brown and Mattias Lodding and the newcomer Johan Jorm, who played an amazing psych rock set in the back room at Slakthuset.

Stories about The Haçienda were featured in our previous interview with you. Do you think there are any modern-day clubs that have an atmosphere that's anything similar to The Haçienda, or would that require the birth of a new musical movement as well?

– No, every generation has their day. I like to think it is possible, you know, not to be so freakin precious about the past. I'm sure Cocoon or Panorama Bar/Berghain have that vibe, for sure.

Your new single Love Is All We Need just came out on Rush Hour. Is there anything else coming out still in 2011?

– I'm working on the final mixes for two albums and various singles. An album by my (now defunct) UK band The Virgo Mechanically Replayed called Factory Fatigue on Haçienda Records and another by my Swedish band Sun Hot Q, which should come out on our own imprint Spindel Spark. I have a remix of Jaxx Attax by Valentin Huedo coming on Is It Balearic? among others.

What's your typical creation process like in the studio? Do you have a favourite piece of equipment?

– I am waiting on my studio room to be finished before I can settle down, it's different every time. A fave piece of kit: a Macbook Pro and Sennheiser HD-650 headphones, as I'm all in the box at the moment.

Is there a certain factor or vibe you look for when you search for new music to play in your sets? Are there any new artists or producers that you've gotten excited about?

– I really like the quirky producers, the deranged and beautiful ones and I love that minimal Chi-town sound. Murphy Jax from Berlin has been in touch, so I might do some stuff with him. I'm loving everything Buckley from Back to Basics in Leeds is doing and we are still planning a collaboration this year sometime. Justin Robertson's EP on Is It Balearic? is a stunner. Loving Skudge, Caribou, really love The Oliverwho Factory and Recloose. Ummm... will that do?!

Any tracks that have become your personal summer anthems this year?

– Electric Sunshine by Recloose on Rush Hour. A couple of Buckley's demos have become staples in my set.

What is your soundtrack of choice for the day after partying?

– I'm back on my computer working on the bands' stuff... no sleep till Brooklyn!!!
