Two of Sweden's finest record spinners will be back in town this Saturday. Besides being top-notch disco connoisseurs, Anton Klint from Gothenburg is also known as one half of Tiedye, while the Stockholm resident Daniel Savio a.k.a. Kool DJ Dust has made a reputation as a fundamental skweee figure. We had a little chat with the guys about finding records, their forthcoming releases and plans for the summer.

What is the last great record you have found while digging the crates?

Daniel: Oh, man! I dig for records every single day, mostly just two or three Salvation Army style shops around where I live. But once a week I do some travelling, fleamarkets and stuff. I usually am a bit late so I rarely find any of the obvious stuff for trading, I mostly just buy the crappiest, 50 cent to 1 euro stuff nobody would think about picking up. I just listen to all sorts of crap until I find some good songs. It's really time consuming and to one extent also a bit expensive, so when I find some really golden nuggets, it's just me who knows about them for a while (there's little shame amongst the trainspotters around here). I was really happy when I found this psyche gem a month ago, though:

Anton: I found this LP by Caramba the other day. I never paid any attention to it before, but it has a pretty cool track and some other parts. It's in some fake Eastern language, but recorded in Sweden and written by Ted Gärdestad and has musical features by Pugh Rogefeldt, Björn and Benny of ABBA fame and a bunch of other big artists from Sweden, but under pseudonyms. I think it was the 1990's until it got known who actually did the record.

How about the current stuff – any new artists you've came across and really liked?

Anton: To be honest, I'm pretty bad with catching up on new releases. I like my friends Parlour, Rollerboys, Dan and Rasmus from Studio, Dj Kaos, Lovefingers and Lee Douglas (ESP Institute) and Tiago. The new Rub N Tug sounds great. Rune Lindbaek is a genius.

Daniel: Every now and then I hear some good tunes and tracks, but for current artists, I don't really have the time to check them out except for my fellow skweee producers around the world. I try to listen to everything that is coming out, because I love it so much and to check the "competition".

Tiedye - Fisherman's Bend (Dan Lissvik Remix) by tacking

What's coming up from you in the near future?

Anton: We are working and finishing up our newly recorded LP as a full band with Tiedye. I'm really happy about that. A 12" called Fisherman's Bend including remixes by Dan Lissvik and A Mountain Of One is dropping any day on Italians Do It Better. We are playing a bunch of gigs with the band this summer. When we are not doing that, I'm travelling and DJing all over.

Daniel: I got the next Discofil Desperados in the pipeline. It's a collection of rare and unheard tracks, that I compile and my homie Thomas bootlegs. I did one a couple a months ago and the latest one is by Rune Lindbaek. It's very good, there's even one of my old mystery tracks on there too. I'm trying to cook up some new "new disco" stuff for my friends at FEED Recordings too, but I am pretty busy making skweee, looking for records and being a father, so time is a bit tight.

What clubs or parties would you recommend to check out in Stockholm at the moment?

Daniel: I only get out when I play myself, so I can't really answer that...

How about in Gothenburg?

Anton: Me and my partner Edvin from Tiedye are doing some parties at this great club Nefertiti this summer. Ten Fridays starting in July – total summer vibes with live acts, great DJ's, food, drinks – all that sleaze you need for summer nights. I've also got my monthly residency at Yaki-Da, which is a pretty new big club in Gothenburg with three floors and a great coffee bar. Other than that, I mostly go to bars to hang out with my friends.

Any plans for the summer, besides making and playing music?

Daniel: I'm going to Berlin and Munich with my baby and baby mama. Gonna play a bit there too.

Anton: I got a pretty busy summer coming up with finalizing the record, travelling, doing parties et cetera, but I'm sure I'll find some time to cruise around the streets, drink some beer and hang out with friends and family.

What is your soundtrack of choice for the day after partying?

Anton: You mean a hangover tune? There is tons of 'em. I was listening to Nico's cover of These Days while taking a painkiller this morning.

Daniel: Tough question... It depends really, maybe some dub, roots reggae or mid-seventies Alice Cooper.

Bonus question: Who is going to win the Ice Hockey World Championships? (Or do you even care?)

Anton: Not really interested. Us skateboard/graffiti kids were fighting the hockey dudes when I was a kid, and I kinda feel the same way about them still.

Daniel:  I don't care at all, I'm illiterate with all sorts of sports, except for figure skating that I watch when an opportunity is given (for the Ukrainian upskirts, haha).
